Steven Minaglia, Creator and Organizer of Maui Nui Swim completed his own 46th crossing of the Maui Nui channels and 10th completion of the Maui Nui Swim event on January 10, 2026.  Through years of careful observation and data analysis he created an algorithm for crossing these channels as efficiently as possible, including the proposed optimal course design for the Triple Maui Nui Swim Nā Kōwā ʻEkolu of ʻAuʻau|Pailolo|Kalohi.

The Triple Maui Nui Swim is a continuous swim across all 3 channels taking into account the rules of the Hawaiian Channel Swimming Association.  This swim was first completed by legendary open water swimmer Becca Mann in 2019 and first attempted by Dr. Harry Huffaker in 1989.  Early in 2024, the HCSA worked closely with Becca Mann and officially named this famous swim.
