News Flash: Steven Minaglia of Maui Nui Swim and Captain Jamie Barlow planned and navigated the all-time record breaking swims of the Kaiwi Channel IN BOTH DIRECTIONS. The ocean is chaotic and luck favors the prepared when swimming across the Kaiwi Channel. Records belong to the swimmer and are meant to be broken. Yet channel swimming is a team sport. We aim to use our experience and all available data to make swims across the Kaiwi Channel more safe and efficient.

Loren King (CAN) sets the new record for swimming from Oʻahu to Molokaʻi in 13 hours 18 minutes 55 seconds. This swim planned and navigated by Steven Minaglia of Maui Nui Swim, piloted by Jamie Barlow aboard One Step, and observed by Lynn De Lathouwer-Rodgers and Henry Pomroy was ratified unanimously by the board of the Hawaiian Channel Swimming Association.
Andreas Waschburger (GER) sets the record for swimming from Molokaʻi to Oʻahu in 9 hours 55 minutes 10 seconds on October 6, 2024. This swim planned and navigated by Steven Minaglia of Maui Nui Swim, piloted by Jamie Barlow aboard One step, and observed by Ocean 7 creator Steven Munatones was ratified unanimously by the board of the Hawaiian Channel Swimming Association.
